Grades 6,7, & 8 Theory

Students at JKPA attend Group Music Theory classes, taking the ABRSM Grades 6,7 and 8 examinations.  The coverage is most comprehensive:  harmony, counterpoint, melodic composition, aural perception, music history, knowledge of musical forms and terms and composers.

The approach combines individual attention for each student in tutorial style and capitalizes on group dynamics when facilitating discussions.  Students develop interests and achieve outstanding results through clear understanding of concepts, learning in a multi media setting and engaging in work.   Many students at JKPA are top scorers and music prize awardees in MEP schools namely in RGS, RI, ACSI, MGS, NYGH, TKGS.

It is the tradition at JKPA for the past decades that students obtain only distinctions at 'O' and 'A' level music examinations.  We offer the best theory courses in Singapore, taught solely by the music author of the Practice in Music Theory series, and several other books - Ms Josephine Koh.
